Nomade Tulum: Reclaim Your Spirit

Nomade Tulum

Planning for a trip is one of my favorite things to do, yet also one of the most stressful things I do.  The most stressful part, has to be accommodations. I may not have loads of cash, but I sure can be picky!  When deciding where to stay for my Tulum getaway (albeit short, and even though Tulum is rather small),  I discovered a myriad of options that were budget-friendly as well as luxurious. One of theseoptions was beautiful Nomade Tulum, a property dedicated in helping you reclaim your peace of mind.

Nomade Tulum, built a few years ago is beautifully bohemian and luxurious all at the same time. When I  viewed Nomade’s visually impressive website, I knew immediately this was the place to stay.  Fully immersed in the fantasy of enjoying the pristine grounds, I pulled out my credit card, only to discover that it was completely sold out for my dates of tenure. However, just because a place is sold out, doesn’t mean I can’t explore the grounds and discover what lovely amenities are offered.

My first two days in Tulum were completely rain-filled. I’m talking about “Is there a hurricane coming?” type of rain.On the third day, the sun returned and after visiting the mayan ruins, I decided to explore my number one choice for accommodation. Nomade Tulum can probably be best described as a dream.Cliche, I know, but entering the grounds of Nomade you can’t help that you are walking into something special, something unique. As I walked down a gravely pathway, I glanced upwards at the magnificent palm trees, semi-shading me from the sun which has been hiding for the past two days.
Entwined within the palms, string lights hang overhead that later illuminate the paths on the property when dusk arrives. Nestled between all of this rich foliage, you finally find the lobby. The lobby, and actually the entire property reminds you of a cross between clothing brands Antropologie and Freepeople, which have decided to collaborate to create a luxury property
geared to help you bring you back to your center, and spirituality.

I explained to the young lady at the front desk that I had wished to book, but could not, and that I very much wanted to be a guest. She smiled warmly and was gracious enough to show me around. Nomade Tulum has several accommodation options. The first option I was shown was a SeaView Cabana,a lovely oceanfront bungalow with a modern decor, large bed, concrete floors, and a private terrace complete with plush seating and a hammock.  Other options include various types of suites
that are either located within the gardens or seaside.

The most interesting option however, has the be the Deluxe Tent. This option is indeed a tent, constructed within a wooden platform with a thatched roof that aides for protection from the elements. Opening the “door”of this tent, I was pleasantly surprised at its immediate charm. Adorned with attractive, overlapping oriental-style rugs in rich earth tones, it definitely felt
welcoming. The bed looked inviting and comfortable.A handsome chest, with toiletries on top graced the foot of the bed. The tent, although small did not feel crowded even though it housed a full length mirror, twin night stands with lamps, two small chairs and several floor cushions. As I opened the back door of the tent, I discovered the outdoor shower, a rainfall style shower enclosed within wooden paneled walls for privacy. I visited Tulum in June, and even though I was completely enamored by this glam tent, I wondered about the heat and humidity that could become a problem. The concierge however addressed my concern even before I asked. Located in the corner of the tent was actually a portable air conditioner. Upon seeing this, I knew that the tent would become my temporary home in a future trip to Tulum.

The concierge, noticing my desire to say, encouraged me to stay a while and explore which of course I did. Walking back towards the seaside cabana which I experienced earlier, I came face to face with the full beauty of the beach. The beach, full of white powdery sand, more majestic palms, hammocks and swings, is something straight out of a postcard. I sat down at one of the small tables and ordered a couple of drinks, fully enjoying the wind blowing through my hair and the sound of the ocean
.

I did not order food to go along with my drinks, as I had just had eaten, but I did notice the various array of entrees being served to other guests. Beautifully grilled octopus and several types of fish were steadily being whisked away to hungry guests, that truly seemed to be enjoying the ambiance of an ocean front dining. The beach was so quiet, so serene with just the sound of the waves breaking and the occasional sounds of laughter from Nomade’s obviously satisfied guests. I finished my drinks and upon exiting the property, I discovered the meditation tent and a beautiful wind chime garden. On the ride back to my hotel, I seriously thought about Nomade, wishing I could have stayed. The grounds, rooms and the kindness of the staff convinced me that Nomade Tulum is not just a place of dreams, but of reality.
